When All Hope Seems Lost Part 2

When All Hope Seems Lost Part 2

When all hope seems lost, part 2

Are you currently experiencing a time of famine in your life? Have you lost hope? Famine in the land or in our lives is virtually inevitable. In Part 1, we looked at Elimelech and Naomi and their response to a famine in the book of Ruth.

Maybe it sounds like a good idea to pack your bags and head for Moab. No matter how distant you are from God, He is calling you back to Him.

How can you take the steps to live in this moment and turn your face towards a God who wants to work miracles in your moment of despair?

1. Ask God to reveal any sin in your life

Whether you are dealing with a sin that you are aware of or have any unknown sin in your life, pray and ask God to show you the things in your life that are keeping you from growing closer to Him.

2. Repent

When God reveals your sin to you, immediately ask Him to forgive you of that sin.

3. Seek a one-on-one mentor for accountability

If the sins revealed are sins you have long struggled with, seek a trusted source for accountability. Look for someone in your life who has a close relationship with God and walks this out in their everyday life. Let them know you are struggling with a sin and have repented and you could use their guidance, counsel, and support in growing. It is good to remember we are all on this journey together.

4. Journal

Take note of your current circumstances and how you are praying for God to help you in these times. It will bless you greatly in the long run to look back at how God answered your prayers in the moment, and in the long term. You will reflect on how you have grown and how these current circumstances will continue to be used for God’s glory throughout your walk with God.

In His Forgiveness

In Part 1, I mentioned our family’s financial struggles in years past. Although we have not totally overcome our financial struggles, we have learned to reflect on the sin that held us hostage in those circumstances. Through this we have gained a huge breakthrough and seen a healing in our finances.

Through repentance, prayer, and one-on-one mentorship, let us be the generation that breaks those vicious, rebellious cycles in our families. He is our Hope on the Horizon. He is the God who desires to restore us and bring us out of our times of famine as we turn our hearts back to Him.

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” – John 6:35
