Spring Biblical Feasts 2025: Passover, First Fruits, Unleavened Bread, and Pentecost Explained

Written by Dianna Wiebe on .

Did you know that the Spring Biblical Feasts are more than just ancient traditions? They serve as powerful reminders of God’s faithfulness and opportunities for spiritual growth. Let’s explore these feasts and their 2025 dates.

Passover (Pesach)
Date: Begins at sundown on April 12 and ends at sundown on April 13, 2025.

Passover commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Families gather for the Seder meal, retelling the Exodus story and emphasizing themes of freedom and deliverance. It’s a time to remember how God saved us from our bondage to sin and delivered us to new life in Him.

Feast of Unleavened Bread (Chag HaMatzot)
Date: April 13 at sundown to April 20 at sundown, 2025.

Following Passover, this seven-day feast involves abstaining from leavened bread, remembering the speed at which the Israelites left Egypt. In the Bible, leaven is often a symbol for sin. This feast calls us to take time to examine our lives and remove the sin so that we are able to walk in freedom.

Feast of First Fruits (Yom HaBikkurim)
Date: Begins at sundown on April 19 and ends at sundown on April 20, 2025.

This feast celebrates the offering of the first harvest to God, acknowledging His provision. For Christians, it also resonates with the resurrection of Jesus, the “first fruits” of those who have fallen asleep. It’s a moment to express gratitude for how the Lord has provided for us and renew our commitment to God’s plan for us.

Pentecost (Shavuot or Feast of Weeks)
Date: June 1, 2025.

Fifty days after First Fruits, Pentecost marks the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. In Christian tradition, we also remember the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the disciples in the Upper Room. It’s a celebration of God’s instruction and equipping, encouraging us to be obedient to the Word of God, through the Holy Spirit’s work in our life.

These spring biblical feasts serve a dual purpose: to remember God faithfulness and mighty acts in the past. Then, to take time to examine our own lives and see where we can grow spiritually this year. By observing them, we connect to our rich spiritual heritage of faith and a time to focus on our own ongoing transformation to be more Christ-like.
