God gave Joseph the ability to interpret dreams, including Pharaoh's troubling dreams about seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine.
Because of Joseph's wisdom, Pharaoh placed him in charge of preparing Egypt for the coming famine. Joseph became the second most powerful man in Egypt, overseeing the storage and distribution of food.
Years later, when the famine spread into Canaan, Joseph's brothers came to Egypt seeking grain—just as Joseph's dreams had foretold.
Did Joseph Forgive His Brothers?
Yes.
After revealing his identity, Joseph chose forgiveness instead of revenge.
One of the most encouraging verses in Joseph's story is Genesis 50:20:
"You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good."
Joseph recognized that although his brothers had made sinful choices, God had been working through every circumstance to preserve their lives and the lives of the people of Egypt.
