Can I Use Grapevine Studies for Different Ages at the Same Time?

🍇Are you teaching kids of multiple ages and wondering, “Can I really do one Bible study with all of them?”

🍇Do you need a way to simplify your lesson planning while still engaging every student?

🍇Looking for a Bible study that actually works for both young children and older students?

If you’ve asked any of these questions, you’re not alone—and we have good news. Yes, you can use Grapevine Studies for different ages at the same time. In fact, it’s one of the reasons so many families, churches, and co-ops love our approach.

Let’s walk through how you can make it work, and why it’s not only possible—it’s powerful.

Why Teach Different Ages Together?

Whether you're teaching at home, in a Sunday School class, or a homeschool co-op, it's common to have kids from different grade levels in one room. Grapevine Studies was designed with this flexibility in mind.

Here’s what makes it possible:

  • Stick-figures and visual learning connect with all age levels

  • Layered questions allow you to go deeper with older students

  • Multi-level format means students learn side-by-side, but not at the same pace

How to Use Grapevine Studies with Mixed Ages

Using Grapevine Studies for different age groups is simple when you follow this approach:

1. Choose a Study

Select a study that includes multiple levels, such as our Overviews:

  • Traceable – for preschool to early elementary

  • Elementary – for grades 4 to 6

  • Middle School – for middle school and beyond

All students can study the same Bible passage—just at their own depth of understanding..

Pro Tip: If and Overview is to much to start with. Begin  with a topic like Birth of Jesus or Joseph, which are great for a wide age range.

2. Teach One Lesson, Adjust for Age

Teach one Bible lesson to the whole group, then adapt:

  • Young learners: Focus on drawing and basic facts

  • Older learners: Add in timeline work, map studies, and deeper discussion questions

This keeps the teaching time streamlined while offering age-appropriate learning.

3. Use the Teacher Guide to Differentiate

Your Teacher Guide provides:

  • Age-appropriate questions

  • Memory verses

  • Additional activities to stretch or simplify your lessons

  • See our Bible Activities for more ideas.

Everything you need to customize without creating multiple lessons.

Benefits of Mixed-Age Bible Study

  • Saves planning time (one lesson = all ages)

  • Encourages family or class unity

  • Older students mentor younger ones

  • You don’t have to choose between quality and convenience

Real-Life Success

Many Bible teachers and parents have already discovered how Grapevine Studies can simplify their mixed-age Bible time.

“We use Grapevine Studies in our homeschool with kids ages 5, 9, and 12. They each take away something different from the same lesson—and I don’t have to prep three separate studies!”
—Sarah B., Homeschool Mom
